Dohnut! 🍩

This little animated short started with a simple idea. After going through the famous Blender Donut tutorial myself, I thought it would be fun to model a donut in Animation:Master using spline modeling and turn it into an animation of my own.

Donuts have been an iconic part of cartoons and pop culture for years and The Simpsons immediately came to mind, especially Homer’s beloved pink frosted donut with sprinkles. I started imagining the donut as this sacred, highly desired object levitating into a heavenly realm while sugary sprinkles bounce deliciously around it in slow motion. From there it became a playful little fan made tribute to The Simpsons, donuts and animation in general, with a surprise at the end that you’ll have to see for yourself.

Of course some serious research was required, a few trips to my local Tim Horton's helped me study donut shapes, icing, textures and sprinkles up close.
